E-Learning

A) The humans have started deforestation in the Amazon forest and this will directly cause harm to the Allomerus decimarticulatus ant. From what we see in the article, the ants require a host plant so that they can harvest the unusual fungus as a source of protein. Furthermore, the ants require these trees to build their traps. Without the trees, the will not be able to get any food at all. So human activities have threatened the existence of the allomerus decimarticulatus ants.

B) The ants make a hole in which they will place pieces of mould, which will then grow and reinforce the structure by growing around it. (Allomerus decimarticulatus ant and plant)

The Allomerus decimarticulatus ant and the worker ant work together to catch and subdue their prey. The Allomerus decimarticulatus ant will catch the food which will then be stung into submission by the worker ants. The food will then be shared among the two species. (Allomerus decimarticulatus ant and worker ant)

The Allomerus decimarticulatus ant uses a host plant to farm a fungus which provides protein for both the plant and the ants. (Allomerus decimarticulatus ant and host plant Hirtella physophora)
